Siyabonga Africa is a non-profit organisation that helps unemployed people to access income opportunities, either by linking them to work opportunities or by helping them to start their own business.
About the Organisation

Siyabonga Africa (meaning “Thank You Africa”) was birthed in 2004 from a community church in Brakpan which had been in existence since 1984.  The founders, Mr. Ronald and Mrs. Yvonne Dell, were in the service of people, specifically in disadvantaged communities, for over 32 years. Siyabonga Africa exists to eradicate poverty by empowering disadvantaged individuals through skills development, entrepreneurship, and employment opportunities. 

Key Objectives 

  • To provide skills training and learning opportunities for the purpose of human development. 
  • To provide various support and development opportunities for small and emerging businesses. 
  • To be a service provider to funding partners for programmes in poverty relief and elimination. 
  • To co-operate with like-minded organisations within South Africa and abroad. 
  • To distribute funds, food, clothing and other material goods to similar organisations and people in need. 
  • To feed individuals and families via an emergency food voucher who currently do not have any means for food. 
  • To connect people with community resources and information. 

Programme History & Evolution 

  • Founded in 2004, originating from a community church (est. 1984) in Brakpan. 
  • Started with feeding schemes, clothing donations, and building projects. 
  • In 2006, partnered with the Department of Social Development to offer skills development. 
  • By 2007, expanded into enterprise development, helping trainees launch businesses. 
  • Over 300 business projects established nationwide. 
  • Now operates nationally, running projects in every province.

The Siyafunda Programme is a strategic, accredited skills development initiative aimed at upskilling unemployed and underemployed individuals in South Africa. The programme offers formal training in high-demand, practical fields—Fashion Design, Early Childhood Development (ECD) Teacher Training, Welding, and Advanced Computer Courses—to equip participants with the technical competence, certifications, and entrepreneurial capacity needed to secure dignified work or start sustainable businesses.
